we were sailing in boston harbor yesterday when we noticed a C250 sail #418 sailing right near us. since we are C250 #409 and sail in boston harbor, we were hoping that the owner participates in this forum. since we hardly ever see our own boats with the sails up, it was nice to see and it looks pretty nice!! so if the owners see this, we would like to know where you keep your boat.
You caught us. We were in Boston Harbor on Saturday and Sunday. We came down from Salem Harbor's Hawthorne Cove Marina, with about a dozen other boats. We were in a rush to get to Constitution Marina for the cocktail hour, so we did not notice you. We were monitoring Channel 74 with the rest of the flotilla, so would not have heard you hailing us on other channels.
Sorry we did not get a chance to meet. Maybe another weekend. We are discussing a rendezvous to Nahant anchorage sometime in later August. Will try to keep you informed, in case you wish to join us.
We have been sailing our 250 on Lake Winnipasaukee in NH but would like to move it to Boston Harbor. We are considering Constituiton Marina. Do you have any advise or recommendations on making this move?
Constitution Marina is a very busy place - lots of boat and people with plenty of weekend activity. The facilities seem clean and well-maintained - including the dock side pool. It may not be the best place if you are seeking weekend peace and tranquility. My wife has acquaintances that keep their boat at Constitution Marina in the off season and enjoy the winter proximity to Boston (they live aboard). They move to Gloucester Harbor each summer to get away from the sometimes noisey crowds and higher summer season prices.
The Marina's benefits include close proximity to the North End of Boston for fine dining, sightseeing, etc. The staff seemed knowledgable and friendly.
The down sides include the noise and busy pace of a city location - including the inner harbor itself. I find the chop from all the power boat traffic in the inner harbor to be a real pain.
we are in boston harbor. actually we are in east boston at boston harbor shipyard marina. it is less fancy than constitution maria, no pool, but we have the best view of boston, being across from the city. the harbor is busy on the weekends, but it a short sail out to the boston harbor islands and beyond.
Thanks for your comments and advice. It is exactly what I was looking for.
We are looking for the excitment of the Boston scene. We keep looking at other marinas in quieter places and always return to Constitution as a first choice. We visited there yesterday and were treated very well. It was obvious they would make every effort to accommodate our needs.
i think you have made a good choice. i know you will love both the sailing and the night life. there is nothing like going out for a nice dinner in the north end after a day of sailing. also check out the moorings around the harbor islands. they are maintained by the FRIENDS OF THE HARBOR ISLANDS out of CONSTITUTION MARINA. there are several of the out islands that have moorings for rent for either a day or a night. it is great to be secured to a mooring while drinking a glass of wine watching the stars... see you in the harbor...
