Figure I might as well fess up to this travesty of yacht engineering before I'm spotted by someone......
But, Lady K. said "Honey, we ARE going to have air for our cruise aren't we now......." And since keeping the Admiral happy is one of the first rules of prudent seamanship, but not having 8+ BU's lying around I went on a search and found:

Just chillin eh? Hope the zincs on the old Honda are in good shape! I have heard there are difficulties around electrolysis (not the hair removal kind) with your type of system although that is pretty out of my range of expertise.
There is IMHO no possibility of interaction, chemical, electrical, physical or even meta-physical, between the Fedders as installed and the Honda. But, MHO has been wrong many times before.
Oscar... where my curiosity is greatest is around the test for metaphysical reaction...the harmony between these two machines has got to be a wonderful thing!!!!! OHM..... Jay, one of my friends has the bow-hatch unit you mention he got from West Marine. While he continues to use it, he is less than thrilled with the job it does. There was some discussion on the dock about how the older freon units were much more effective but thats all I know. You may want to stroll around until you see one and chat up the owner... Willy

We have one - picked it up about half the price of new one February at a local boat parts resale shop. It works great & it wonderful for those awful hot August days here in Virginia. I'm not sure I'd spring the bucks for a new one (pricey $$$), but look around off season on ebay & your local area & you may get lucky like we did.
