Ok, how do ya'll live with the hum of the Keel cable? I know it will stop if I slack the cable, but, I understand that allowing the keel to rest against the keel trunk will cause damage. Right or wrong?

For 6 years, my good friends owned and cared for my 1978 Catalina Swing. They renamed her "Fine Whine" and changed the colors/canvas to burgundy. The hum makes me know we're starting to "cook" a bit. I hated the name, so when I bought her back in 1998,

The keel trunk is designed to have the keel resting against it. I slack the cable about a turn, maybe a turn and a half. If it begins to sing, I loose it until it stops.

It would be greater damage for the cable to break and have the keel slam against

I was wondering myself if the trunk is built to stop the keel. I do not think so. The fiberglass is only 3/8" thick there. I just bought this boat this past February. When I sailed it this past summer the bilge kept getting water into it. I found that it

Well, I guess that's the difference between running aground on a rock and running aground in mud. Here, the boat just comes to a stop.
