I have a couple of minor dings on the wing of my keel from getting caught up on the trailer when I launched in less than favorable conditions.
They are very minor ( 1/2" in depth and 1/8" to 1/4 wide), but I was looking for some suggestions on the best material for repair. What about marine-tex or epoxy?
I have also noticed some hairline cracks on each side of the keel.
I've used Marine Tex for below-the-waterline applications, and it has usually worked very well. This spring I came across a product made by Interlux, called Interprotect Watertite YAV 135. It is specifically intended for underwater filling. I used it on my cast iron keel and to fill small erosions of gelcoat around the skeg. It was very easy to work with. I haven't pulled the boat out yet, so I can't report on how well it has held up, but I really don't doubt that it will do well. You can get more info on it from yachtpaint.com
