Ed have you tried a trip over to the trailer sailor site. There are lots of smaller boat sailers there who would love to give you some input. Im partial to Sabots, El Toros, and Pelicans.

I've heard some good things about the walker bay 8 & 10 as dingys. They come with a sailing package that looks like it would be simple to use and rig. I have not heard anything about how they sail, but it would also do double duty as a dingy. More bang

Hi Ed,

I met a guy here in GA who had a Compac 16 and loved it.

Said he could lift the mast with one hand.

I've seen Compac 16's as cheap as $3500.00 with a trailer.

I can't tell for sure what you want, but I will suggest a Snipe, 16' of fun. I bought my first wooden one with trailer for about a grand a LOT of years ago. Never had been sailing when I bought it, but what a fun little sloop. Daggerboard. Capsized on

Thanks John and all, I am probably looking at something on the line of a Sunfish. Mostly because of the ease to douse the sails and the size. I have sailed a Thistle and it is more boat then I think I need. Great boat thought. I was just given an olde

I have an old Sunfish but I live in Connecticut and my grown children will not let me part with it. We put it on the rack at the beach every year and rarely use it. I like the boat and the only problem I've had is it has a small leak in the hull that I

Hi Ed,

I learned to sail on a lightning and a friends sunfish on Lake Chatauqua, NY. Our gang also had a Sailfish and one cool dude with a Hobie.

I LOVE "Sunnys", they are a blast. Minifish are fun too.
