Hi All,
This is not a sailing question, I just thought I'd put it up to probably the most intelegent group of people I know.

Matt - the crop dusters in South Texas DO use GPS! I guess that they have calculated how much they have to move their track by on each pass and just keep calculating their new heading. (They used to have a truck & driver at one end of the field and he wou

Matt,
How would it be if the duster first walked(drove) the field and marked waypoints on either end of the field for his go-arounds. I find the Garmin 48 that I use to be accurate enough to put me right on top of waypoints I've entered. Might it work?

The more sophisticated dusters in the area use a Heads Up display that shows the lay lines. Wind drift can be corrected for. Generally, a scout goes out the day before and captures the coordinates and marks hazards. This reduces chemical usage and flight

Hi Ed, et. al.
I know this is not a sailing issue, but is something that just upsets me this time of year. I think being sailers we are more prone to notice pollutants in the air. Alos who knows what is floating around in the air here in the valley. I

Since we're talking GPS...seems like in my murky memory, I recall somewhere, some one talking about a GPS that had a way to sound an alarm when they were dragging their anchor. Does anyone out there know any GPS or add-on that does this? Would be a nice b

Todd: My "old" Garmin 48 (obsolete a few weeks after I bought it) has an anchor alarm feature. You set your position and the distance you want to allow (for normal wind/current shifts) and it lets you know when you drift outside of the circle. It's bes
