Has anyone an opinion about the cool looking plexiglass forward hatch replacment that Catalina Direct sells for (gasp!) $450.00? An opinion worth sharing, that is.

You could make your own with a router and a good jig saw. I have a salvage or recycle yard from Boeing near my home and can often find sheets of plexie glass. measure to match the board you want to replace. Match the taper. Route the notch top and bottom

Douglas: He's asking about the forward hatch--a little more complicated job...

Your idea for the companionway is good--a friend made a top hatch board (only) from smokey Lexan--very nice!

Yea 450 is way too expensive i can't believe they sell any of them. maybe if enough of us are interested we could get a better price, i'd bite instantly @ 250, chris from lhungta

I wish I was retired already. I could make a little income from making a few of theses parts not to mention others. I have made several parts from plastic, lexan, and fiberglass. The lexan is harder to work with and a press/mold must be made and lots of h
