My outboard motor bracket is a OMC 15 hp with an air assist
cyclinder, and being about 6yrs old the cyclinder has lost its
charge, and I think I remember someone had a relative that was
in the part business who could get parts for this unit. If anyone
can come up with a number I will certainly call and appreiciate it.

Also can call Cal's Marine Power Center in Penryn (maybe Loomis) California at 916 652-5984.

They have them in stock and can get parts.

Just a thought (and a reminder to myself): the OMC bracket needs frequent lubrication for it to work properly and easily...

Mine is also six seasons old, but still seems to be going strong.

Wouldn't it be useful to have a site on this forum (maybe a listing under "Tech Tips") where thise bits and pieces of information about our boat could be stored for easy retrieval (eg. what is the address and telephone number of Horizon? Where do you get parts for CDI furlers, or ...). I know the answer is most often Catalina Direct (Hail Mary!) but for those items they don't have...

Just an idea...

If someone volunteers to put the contact list together, we'll make it into a web page and put it on the site.

Great idea.

Terry,
A couple of months ago I got a price of around $160 for the assist cylinder on the 15 HP OMC bracket! They quoted a complete new style bracket for around $250. At that price I decided it isn't that hard to raise the motor with the old worn out assist. I also noticed another interesting thing with the bracket. I lubed it and snugged up all the bolts and ran into problems with it latching in, both in the down and up position. Loosened up the bolts and it works again. I like the bracket, its solid and supports the motor well, and if I get to the point where I have trouble raising the motor a two purchase block will be rigged from the overhead.
