Probably been talked about before, but with my mast down I want to inspect my rigging (20yrs old this year) I know the obvious meat hooks and rust, but is there any area above all others that has a history of failure.

Thanks to all who reply

If you have the aluminum spreader sockets you should carefully inspect them for corrosion damage, cracks etc. Apparently some of these have failed.

There is a replacement kit available from Catalia-Direct with all-stainless steel construction. (I upgraded mine, easy job.)

Ditto for inspecting the aluminum masthead fitting and related hardware... somebody on this board had that component fail awhile back... as I recall, they lost their mast when it went.

Be sure to look for cracks and corrosion damage in all the shroud end fittings.
