Just got home from a weekend of racing in this regatta - it's the biggest on the lake all year. 63 boats in 5 fleets, including 21 C-22's - more than were at their Nationals this year! In our PHRF fleet we had a J-27, 2 J-24's, a Catalina 30, Soling 27, Cal 25, a Kestrel 24 (and us!). Five races (3 Sat, 2 Sun.) J-27 1, 2, 1, 3, 5 TSU 4, 1, 2, 1, 4 12 points each and we lost on the tie-breaker... but we did whup the rest of 'em! Cold (60 degree), damp weather. Winds 5 - 12 both days. Needless to say I had my A crew! (Including the genoa trimmer from Washington D.C.) Derek

It is obvious that a great skipper and the hot rod rig of our fleet, (fk/tr) is one heck of a force to reckon with. I hope you drag that thing to where ever the nationals are.
Thank you gentlemen! I sure hope to bring her to the Nationals (if in KS) next year - or I'll try to "borrow" a TR in Portland. Now it's off to jolly old England tomorrow for 10 days... Derek
congrats, Derek.....I am sure I couldn't beat those boats here! What were wind conditions? I am really curious about PHRF differences in the boats, length of races, etc. I know you don't fly a 'chute. Did they? or was it a non-spin class? Tell me more!
Hi Gary B! The PHRF's went from 126 for the J-27 to 240 for the Kestrel. The J-24's rate 174 and the C-30 174. We were at 222. Winds were up and down both days - anywhere from 5 - 12 - and very chiily as they were from the north. Derek
Derek, Congrats on the race. I'm sorry we didn't get to see you. We passed quite a few boats on the Devil's Backbone when we were headed down to the slip. We had a nice(chilly) evening sail. Only two other motorboats on the lake at the time. Didn't know we missed the opportunity to watch the fastest guys in action. I was thinking I need to crew for you sometime to learn how to trim the C25 better. To think I could have seen you in action. Maybe next time. Congrats again. Sid
It would make for some memorable sailing to have and Milby racing against each other. You guys really know how to make your boats go, and that's impressive.
Greetings from Merrie England1 Frank - I'd love to bring my own sails! Unfortunately they are built for use with a headfoil and not too many C25's have 'em... Derek
