I have not yet observed this group in it's initial seasonal withdrawal period.
There is, of course, going to be unfocused and tangient behaviour when there is a lack of the target activity (sailing), as is the case in the off season.
My question is whether there is a brief period of intense disorientation, after which a sort of mass hybernation sets in, which seems contrary to expectations.
What one would expect is that the errant behaviour would increase slowly, to peak right before preparatory behaviour for the next season becomes justifiable. At that time the group would regain focus, and become target oriented, ie "all business".
If the latter scenario is considered the norm for this group, the observations of current behaviour lead me to believe that it is going to be one long goofy winter.

Oscar you hit it right on the head. Once the sailing stops for a while you begin to see more emotional post. A few quips and then insults fly followed by appologies. This goes on each winter during the on the hard or in storage season. It's funny to watch. You will also see an increase in rants such as this one about 1st amendment. Antares if you want to curse keep it to yourself and not on a public board where everyone and there kids can see it. We who use the board also have the right not to put up with such language. I beleve you agreed to this when you read the boards rules.

Douglas, my original post on this thread was made completely tongue in cheek. Apparently my attempt to be humorous last night got lost in the translation. I apologize. For the record, I agree with everything else you stated.
