A couple of weeks ago, there was a post regarding the area behind the head. These are some photos that I took of my work in progress.

By the way you can also see the new opening port that was installed. I put one in both Port and Starboard

WOW! Great looking locker, and great looking varnished interior. Looks like I have a lot of work to do this spring. :-)

Thank you very much for the pictures!

Don, They are Lewmar, I got them at Catalina direct for a reasonable price. However I believe that their prices have gone up considerably since I got them. I ended up paying about $170 each

That's beautiful !

How did you go about refinishing your bulkheads ???
Mine have kind of a 'waxy' surface on them that feels
like it wouldn't "hold" a finish. (Hopefully I'm wrong)

Also, what did you use to refinish with?

Bruce, Frank

Part of this refit involved removal of all the bulkheads and interior trim. All of the trim was cleaned with a two part teak cleaner (Te-Ka is a good one). After a sanding with a fine grit, starting with 220 going to 360, I put on six coats of Minwax high gloss poly urethane. Wet sand and tack cloth between each coat.

The doors are mahogany, butt jointed corners with dowels. I rabbetted a groove around the opening using a router and inset the cane with a spline.
