Friends: I don't spend any time on this forum because I personally have a C-25 (little budget). However, I wanted to let you all know that we of Fleet 94 would LOVE to have a good showing of C250s in Portland, OR for the Nationals in July of 2004. Please follow the threads that are now, and will be often, on the General Forum page. YOU ARE INVITED and VERY WELCOME! We have no 250s in our local fleet. If we are going to have a good showing of 250s, it will be because some of you trailer to this event!

It's awfully pretty out here.....gonna be a lot of fun....Bryan Beamer says he may drag his boat a long ways, too, but not unless there's a good sized fleet of 250s.......

How much time do you have? The San Juan Islands are a PERFECT Catalina cruising ground. World class....only 5/6 hours away.........up I-5, but we can surely cruise around here for a few days besides the regatta.

DO NOT SEE A SHRINK!

Hey guys! If you come and only have half the fun that I had with Gary B. in July doing the "SixPak", you'll still have one heck of a good time! (Just think of all that wonderful seafood waiting...!)

Those piles of thousands of head of cattle they were burning when I was in England weren't surviving too well, neither are the millions of white tail deer in the center of this country......Darwin is selecting all right.....and the poison is in the dead animals we eat....(Not to mention the stuff Frank Perdue et al stick in there for your carcinogenic pleasure)......have another steak folks...no really, If there's only a couple of us left that whole social security problem will go away too! Darwin's at work all right....only the ones smart enough to lay off the poison will survive.....OK I get carried away once in a while......not enough sailing will do that to you. (The Admiral says she's getting me a soap box for x-mas)

At this time, I plan to pull my 250wb to Portland for the event. I don't know where all of you guys are from but if you will be running up I 5, maybe we can get together.

I'd love to take TSU to the Nationals Steve S., but have you any idea how far Portland is from Canyon Lake????
2 small problems would be 1. no trailer and 2. no tow vehicle...
I'm hoping that Gary B. can find a TR C25 for me to race (the A crew is willing to fly in for the week...)

I have a 250 that I would love to take to Portland (I'm semi local Port Orchard WA) My problem is no trailor, no tow vehicle and no crew. If any out of towners are willing to help me sail her down and back you'll have your 250. Otherwise I'll be there alone.

Grego, if you need crew to race at the nationals, the organizers will be able to help you. There are always Catalina owners who attend, but who can't bring their own boat, and who are available to crew. Touch base with Gary.

BTW, Steve, do you plan to haul Captiva Wind to the West Coast?

I'm afraid my old Chevy 1/2 ton will only be able to make one more long, hard pull through the mountains, and I'm conserving it's strength to pull the C-25 to Florida in the next year or so, where I'll live aboard it while I search for a bigger boat. If I'm not able to liquidate my property and make the break by the next regatta, and if it is in Kansas, or somewhere else not separated from Ohio by mountains, I would love to mix it up with you guys again. I'd like to go to Portland, but it's just too far for me.

Steve, Are you considering flying out? So far, the commitments aren't in concrete, but there are a number of folks out here with boats who aren't really serious racers and would love to have experienced crew. I met a 250 owner just Sunday at the Portland Boat Show who would love experienced help.

Doug A.- Have we been in touch? Give me a whistle!

Grego5, I would caution AGAINST sailing a 250 down the WA coast to get here, but I would love to help you try to find a trailer/tow rig, etc. Which model/keel have you?

Trust me, the WA coast is pretty inhospitable with few/no places of refuge if it blows up, and the Columbia bar can be a "graveyard of the Pacific" for good reason. After showing him the maritime museum at Astoria, Derek Crawford was in no rush to cross the bar and back on my C-25. Get in touch with me.

We now have a website with links to information on the Nationals. https://home.comcast.net/~fleet94/

I'd really love to, but my son will be in his last year of college next year, and that expense is preventing me from doing a lot of the things I'd like to do. After next year, my economic situation will be comfy, and I'll be able to travel, buy a bigger boat, and do other fun things.
