I own a 1999 9.9 Honda 4 stroke outboard. It is an excellent motor. I was going to buy the Yamaha but the Honda has an optional longer shaft. That is important. Last year Honda came out with a new model 9.9 which seems to have some nicer features. O

I new I could count on you for info. I'm not sure of the year of either ob. The Yamaha body is white in color and in great condition. I don't know what year they change to black. (or whatever dark color they are now) Either way it's much newer th

Yamahas have been gray since at least sometime in the mid-80s. That engine may be newer than your '63, but it's no spring chicken. Then again, for $350, what can you lose? (...as long as it doesn't leave you drifting.) Does it have an al

Let me backup a bit, I stopped at an individuals barn out in the boon docks that sells and repairs outboards, to give me a price on repairing my 63' Evenrude, the throttle is on the

Rick: White. I think they were that color for several years, perhaps into the early 90's, but I would check that with Yamaha. I also don't know how long it took them to fix the problem I alluded to; the problems I am aware of were in the earliest years

I have posted this before, but to you new folks, look at the Honda 9.9 which can be made to work like a Honda 15 (actually 14 horsepower) by just removing the screw that holds the linkage to the throttle!

Now this came from a Honda dealer when I was in

Been there with my previous engine. Yep grind off the throttle stop ooooppps wait a minute the bigger honda also has a diferent tunned exaust that also helps to boost the HP. But not to many folks go that deep into their engine or know enoug

It sounds that Honda finally got "smart" with their 9.9 engine-much to the demise of us poor folks trying to save a buck!
