I wonder if I would have to TOTALLY sand away all of the Cetol I have remaining on my exterior to apply Waterlox? Or would a light sanding suffice to clean/smooth the surface? Does anyone know? <blockquote id="quote"><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" id="quote">quote:<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"> Yes, there is a distributor locator on the home page of the website in the lower right hand corner. This area accepts a zip code and will locate the closest distributors in the area. I will caution that most distributors do NOT carry our Marine Finish product (recommended for outdoor projects, like boat woodwork), so they may be better off calling us here at the office at 800.321.0377 and we can ship to them.
As for the Cetol question. Yes, you will need to sand down to bare wood before applying the Waterlox system. Cetol is a surface coating, so it will eventually fail, turn black and peel/crack/chip. Waterlox penetrates into the pores of the wood, so you'd want to be down to bare wood to experience the maximum benefits.
For exterior wood surfaces, 2 coats of Waterlox Original Sealer/Finish/Marine Sealer and 1 coat of Waterlox Original Marine Finish.
Hope this helps and let me know if I can be of further assistance to you.
