Thursday was an unexpected school-snow day, so we dropped off the kids at grandma's, and I got my biggest sleeved bib (with chunk catcher) out and we drove the 120 miles to the All Sail Expo in Atlantic city.....(Notta one belch fire other than the ones in slavery to a sailing mother ship....)

Got a hell of a deal from the evil empire...boat show price on a sailing kit for the Walker Bay.....370-something no shipping! Now I can start teaching the kids to sail in earnest.

Other than that we tortured numerous sales people and crawled all over their shiny product....The Catalina folks were there in force. About 300-Large for a well equipped 47 would do us just fine thank you. (Including bow thruster for eye popping docking stunts...)

Now they also had a life size cardboard cutout of Fank "El Grande" Butler.....seems the Bavaria people had some fun during setup and kidnapped Frank and took his picture in front of the Hunters. I tried to bribe them to e-mail me a copy, no luck

Also crawled on the 250 WK...that was a mistake. Admiral tried to strangle me when she discovered she could (almost) stand up in it......It's amazing though how much more like home our boat feels with all the embellishments we've made. The new naked clorox bottle was kinda strange looking.....

Oh well...keep on dreaming....some day.

My wife and I are going up to the Cleveland boat show tomorrow. I hope there are a lot of Catalinas on display, but I'm not getting my hopes up. I'm not really sure what to expect. I'm glad you enjoyed the Atlanta show.

Largest at the Phoenix Show is a C250. Not much market for bigger in the desert. 8-(

Nice 75' SkipperLiner though.

By the time we can afford the next boat the kids (him/her) will have grown to the point where they need separate cages, so Admiral wants a 3 "stateroom" vessel..

By that time, they won't want anything to do with a boat that can't take them and their friends skiing or kneeboarding. You and the Admiral will be alone again--unless, of course, you get a Mac 26X with a 50hp Honda and a tow rope.

Go rinse your mouth.......funny you should mention the M26.....when we were searching for what ended up being Lady Kay, the Admiral saw the M26 with 50 horse auxiliary on YDC (yachtworld.com) an thought it was cool. She did not understand my refusal to even look at it. Thursday at the boatshow there was one parked.....and we were approching it broad side, 75 feet away down a wide walkway, iow, the best way to show off a boat....her words:"What the hell is that?" I almost choked on my coffee laughing....

As far as the kids....every one always said: "Wait 'till they're 2,3,5,10 then they'll do this and that". Well, the kids have done amazingly well in every aspect, and every age has seen us as a family that enjoys doing things together, and gets along extremely well. With added features catering to their need for responsibility and independence, like crew duties and the sailing dink, I hope we'll sail together for a long time.

Oscar......
