I have mentioned before that I was going to try using a deck bag for my headsail rather than spending the money for a furler. (If you have been following my projects then you know I have to be out of money!) I expect to use it when I come in with wet sails that I do not want to put away. I asked to have a mesh panel put in the bottom so the sails could dry. Please excuse the mess in the pictures, it is tax time and things are spreading out. I put the bag in a large task chair and it has three regular pillows in it to give it shape. The gentleman who made it, Robert Pyfrom <neetra@ccis.net> is a retired canvas man doing this as a small business. http://homepage.mac.com/fhopper/PhotoAlbum40.html I hope it turns out to be something more people want.
Can't really tell from the photo... I think the only way to know for sure is put a sail in it. The 110 is pretty compact, but the genny takes up a lot of room.
Hi Frank, I think I'm going to contact Robert Pyfrom to have him make one for me, rather than mess with trying to make one myself. $50.00 seems very reasonable to me. Anyway, I've never used a jib bag. I'm assuming it attaches to the forestay. Does it attach at the top and the bottom or just the top of the bag? I really wish I could see one in action, so I could see where the zipper is in relation to how it hangs on the forestay.

Ignorance is a constant companion for me. I THINK the SS clip goes to the stem fitting, the zipper around the forestay (with the sail still hanked on), and the d-ring to the halyard to hold the bag off the deck. For me, I will unhook my sheet shackle and connect it to the stem fitting as well, but if you tie your sheets on then you will simply include them in the bag. Clam... Brooke... do I have this right?
I use the Jib Bag. We had a Macgregor 26d previously with Roller furling and I decided when we got the Cat 25 to try the Jib Bag. It is easy and relatively fast. One suggestion is depending on your knees is when folding it back in we had to work on our knees and that 5 minutes was somewhat aggravating. I borrowed a pair of nice knee pads and my knees are happy again.

Frank, I emailed your friend Robert Pyfrom a few days ago at the email address you stated in your note. Have not heard from him yet. I asked if he could make the bag of forest green Sunbrella fabric. Your photos look like sunbrella anyway.

Loren, Robert seemed to rely on his grandson a bit for certain tasks involving the computer, so try him again. He replied to me several times but it was usually 12-24 hours later. I asked about the color choices and he said pick any of the ones sunbrella offers and he can make it. He also made mine a little larger for a few extra bucks. Pre pay with check and it will be on it's way.
He went dark on email for a couple of weeks while I was working with him but he is happy to talk on the phone. Email him and ask for his number. I think he has been lurking on this site, I advised him to watch the discussion but also told him of the recent concern toward soliciting. So Scott, did you get it yet? Mine came in a remarkably small package via US mail.

No I just sent the check yesterday so I do not expect it until next week or so. What a deal it seems to me. Thanks again for the info. Frank.
USPS just dropped the bag off. It is a whole lot of bag for the price (like $120 or something in West Marine). Extremely well made! Exactly what I ordered. I would recommend Bob to anyone.
