Just a quick report on the breakfast meetings that Char and I enjoyed on drive south for our cruise this winter.

On Monday morning we met Brooke Willson and Kathy and Dan (cathluk) who both sail on the Chesepeake about 14 miles from each other and live in the Richmond vacinity. During our time together we shared sailing stories and thought it would be a good idea to share a cruise with other c25/250 sailors in the area.

Thanks Brooke, Dan and Cathy for taking time to visit with us. We really enjoyed meeting y'awl and getting to know you a little!

After leaving Richmond, we drove to Jacksonville where our host Jerry (Frog and the General) had to come out to find us. We managed to lost in their development. In the morning we went to the Cracker Barrel in Orange Park where we shared a pleasant time visiting and enjoying our meal. Jerry and Sandy live on a lake with access to the St John River, and dock Pretty Penny II right in front of their house. Well not quiet right in front, their dock is like 500 feet long!

This is the motor well where Jerry's new xls Tohotsu ob will be located!

Thanks Jerry and Sandy for a wonderful visit. You have a lovely home and more importantly you are lovely people!

Wednesday we met Leon Sisson in Cocoa Beach and a nice breakfast in a diner near his home. We talked about his single hand cruise to the Bahamas, and Leon shared many wonderful stories about his experiences. One is the story of getting his kitten, Abacos. Ask Leon, and I'll bet he'll share it with you.

I asked Leon how the NA could be of more benefit to him and he replkied offer cruise in differnt areas of the country. One key reason why we need to develop our local fleets, so that we have a group that can do it.

Thanks Leon for sharing your wonderful stories with us!

It was great to meet you Don & Char. If you get down this way again during sailing season we'll have to show our part of the Chesapeake by water. It was also great to finally meet Brooke and share some sailing stories.

Don & Char,

I enjoyed meeting you for breakfast at the Sunrise Diner here in Cocoa Beach. I'm glad you enjoyed my long tales of cruising to the Bahamas. I'm pleased that you were able to get such a well focused photo of Abaco kitty -- he doesn't hold still very long at a time unless there's food involved!

Don and Char,
Sandy and I enjoyed visiting with ya'll too. Hope ya'll had a great cruise and swamp trip. The General left the sheets on the bed with instructions, while she is in Fairfax, Va., to not remove and wash till I was sure ya'll were home. Thanks for the additional homemaking duties. If your down this way again the motel is always open.

Hey Don,
Sorry I had to miss you when in J'ville. We were in a shut down at work and there was no way I was going to be able to make it on a work day.

To Jerry & Sandy,
Chick-a-pea is berthed at a small marina just south of Julington Ck. so she must be pretty close to you. If you would like to meet up some time give a holler. I quit the high stress job two weeks ago and am self employed again. So my schedule is kind-a open as long as I am making money. Currently I can sail, but with my OBM stolen I cannot easily get back into the slip. I'll probably be purchasing a new Honda 9.9, 4 stoke soon (from Brunswick, GA so I don't have to pay the sales tax.)

Leon,
I'm still planning on taking you up on your offer to sail around Merritt Is. with you sometime. In fact, it is about time to start thinking of going to the Bahamas again. My son should be coming home from Iraq around March and I am hoping to do some sailing with him. Last time he was here he wanted to go off-shore really bad :-)

Ben,

I'm sorry that you couldn't make breakfast, but 8:00 a.m. on a work day can be difficult.

That said, bringing c25/250 sailors together was what the idea was all about and it sounds like it is working for you. Give Jerry a "holler" (is that southern?) and the two of you can get together. Great idea.

Leon is wealth of knowledge and would be an excellant host for a Merritt Island sail. Any others interested in that? I would love it, but with the ugly white stuff getting the boat out seems tobe a problem for me.
