While washing my boat I noticed the black seal around one of the starboard side cabin windows is chipping out. Fortunately the window doesn't leak (yet!) But closer examination of all windows show the UV rays must be taking their toll. Aside from removing the windows and properly rebedding them, is there any type of marine (or auto?) caulk that can be used to fill in voids around windows before they become serious problems? Thanks
I've had good luck with "PermaTex Windshield Sealer" (at least I think that's what it's called) It comes in a tube, and it looks like model airplane glue. In fact, its consistency is very similar to model airplane glue ... it will wick into cracks to seal leaks. It is pretty easy to apply, and it cleans up with a little acetone.
Any auto parts store should carry it, and I've also found it at Wal-Mart.
Good luck!
Well, it's half time ... found a tube of the stuff in the garage ... it's acutally called "Permatex Auto Glass Sealer."
