Hi Folks.
After a brief absence, (lost my password)I'm back to our forum.

I guesse I'm in a rut, as I'm heading to the Keys again in a week and a half for three weeks.

I have recently retrofitted a tongue extension system on my aluminum trailer. Not an easy thing to do. The hard part was finding a galvanizer.
I also installed a furling system, new standing rigging, Mast mounted VHF antenna, windex light, rewired the mast, installed several cabin lights and 12 volt outlets. Don't have time to mount my new Plastimo contest 101 compass (Christmas present-don't slam me for a French compass), knotmeter, depthsounder

You know I do take all of your advice seriously. I tried to light the never used Princess curtain burner stove which came with the boat and the flames shot up, and I couldn't stop them. Fortunately it was in the driveway as I remember you calling it a curtain burner.
So I immediately got online and ordered an Origo 3000. I figure I can cannabalize the potholder, and maybe the gimball mount.

I think I'll have to enter a 12 step program to stop from spending money on the boat. But I figure an 89 wing deserves to be well taken care of.

A friend from my sailing club is coming down to the keys for about 6 days to sail. He races in the C22 Nationals and I have crewed for him locally. He's really smart, a good teacher too. So I'll have a private instructor.

My problem now is that the marina I used to use, Matacumbe Marina, was sold and is now La Fiesta, with a new manager. He took my reservation for a month's slip, and my credit card number. No confirmation was received, and no charge on my card, and no returned calls. I'm looking for a marina to launch, use a slip sometimes, and have a place to park my truck and trailer for 2 and a half weeks. Those places are rare. Any suggestions. Finding a place to keep your truck is really hard in the keys.

Thanks, and it's good to be back.

You know Clam, (Is that your real name?) one of the things I want to do on this vacation is to anchor out off some island, and just relax and read. Yes, read my digital camera instructions and learn how to use it. Then I'll learn how to post pics.
I hope that I can help out some folks with some of my upgrades. Especially the tongue extension for the trailer. I drew up shop drawings for the steel fabricator and he liked them so much he offered me a job. How many anesthesia providers know how to make structural steel shop drawings?
As far as scantily clad women, after my latest relationship I need to just stay away from women for a while I think, or at least until I found one with a reasonable amount of baggage. Finding a good women after you turn 50 is really tough. Am I really that old? Nah. the drivers license lies.

Frank,

Have a great vacation and enjoy your reading!

We spent alot of time reading on our cruise this year and that really made for relaxing sea days. Keep us posted on your adventures and maybe you'll come home with a kitten (right Leon)!

Frank,
I thought ... over 50?
Me too.
Then I started to make a comment about your tongue extension and decided not to.

<font size="4"><i>"Abaco"</i> looks like a very wild critter and good buddy.

My kids call our cat <i>"wildness",</i> he's insane.

Yea Frank, I understand about baggage.

I hope you post some pics. It helps me get by.

Hey Val,
as long as you don't have a belt that BIG

My plans are to start sailing from Matacumbe on the bayside, past Bahia Honda, past 7 mile bridge and then continue bayside to all of those uninhabited islands in the lower keys. The Papy book shows some anchorages out there in some channels among the flats. I'll bet I get good tidal flow so I bought a new 14 lb Delta fast set. It should fit in my anchor locker. Danforths dont grab well at all in the grass. Hey, maybe I'll get to try out a Bahamian moor, just like in the textbooks.

Hey P

do you ever hear from the new owner of your Marinette? That sure was one good looking boat.

<font size="3">Hi Frank,

I have not heard a word from him.

All I know is that he had a trailer made for it and was moving it to St. Simons Island, GA.

It was a nice boat. I just happened to own it when my real estate business slowed down and I couldn't afford to keep it.

But still, I like sailing a lot more than power boating.

I plan to get back into sailing this year. I miss my 89/wk.
