Landing in Portland this afternoon (Wed 3/3) around 3:30 pm I looked down and saw a sweet little C-25 beating up river on the Columbia just west of the airport. Little chilly and misty but winds out of the southeast at 10-12 made it look like they were having a pretty good time. Wish I was there!
Sorry, my eyesight is still good but couldn't make out the sail number. Anyone from the forum the lucky sailor?
Beating up the river??? That is rare, unless there is an East wind. In summer, it is most often blowing upriver, so the beat has current helping out! Wish it had been me! Most of my guys in the fleet are still on the hard, at least for a few weeks. A BUNCH of us in fleet 94 will be at a meeting on Saturday; I will try to find out. The Island Sailing Club has boats splashed, so it could have been a "rental". One of their members has just gotten cleared to race one of those boats in the Nationals this summer. He may be practicing already! Will you be flying in in July?
