Just purchased a vehicle to tow my C25. formerly I have been pulling Nin Bimash with 1989 F250, A bit rusty with an old beat up truck cap. It did the job but complained along the way.

My local career center takes vehicles and restores them and this year they had a 1998 GMC siera? 1 ton crew cab acquired from the department of fish and wildlife. it only has 52000 miles and they completely re-did the finish. With the Vortec V8 I feel comfortable towing from Ohio to the Pacific N west. I hope to spend some time in the San Juan's in '05. This year plans are forming for a trip from Grand Portage MN to Isle Royal for a week in early July. Any one interested give me a shout. The crossing from Grand Portage is only about 20 miles.

Spring boat projects are in full swing splash planned for late April.

*Hop* ... Lake Superior is definately on our list. My folks spend the summers north of Duluth, so starting out on the north shore was the plan. While I spent most my youthful summers in that area, I've never made it to Isle Royal ... GP is as close as I've come. I haven't had good results thus far finding info on sailing Lake Superior - marinas, anchorages, sailing conditions, etc., but I may not know where to look. I do know the water is cold and many ships have been lost there.

Just my two cents worth. If your driving a GMC or Chev with an automatic transmission be sure to keep it in drive not Over Drive. The small clutch packs in the tranny cant take the load and in short order you will be forking out $1500 for a rebuild. I also hope you have a tow kit on that puppy. Trans cooler etc.

Richardsons Lake superior guide has all the harbors and detailed descriptions of shore services. While the book has a good representation of Isle Royal, I still need to get the NOAA chart.

Thanks for the reminder Doug, The old ford has a manual tranny and I'll have to get back to the automatic mindset. still planning to come to the northwest in 05. I like the Idea of C25/250 breakfasts so when I make the big continental crossing I'll see if there are owners who would like to meet over a meal along the way.
