When I ordered a new rudder for my 89 WK I was informed by the Catalina parts man that there were three different rudder sizes for my model. I carefully sketched out a plan from my old cracked rudder (I do know how to do this from my engineering/construction management days) Sure enough, they sent the wrong one. But they paid for it to be air freighted back, sent me a new one at their cost, and included a new tiller for my trouble.
Everybody makes mistakes sometimes, it's how you handle the mistake and make good on it which seperates the pros from the rest.
I'm sure that Hunter and those French boats have as good as customer service as that. NOT!
So the message here is that there is more than one size rudder out there

If you're planning on building a rudder I may be able to give you some advice. I built one four years ago and it seems to be holding up well.

When I ordered my balanced rudder from Catalina Direct, they asked me for the model year since there are differences in the dimensions between rudders that will fit some of the various model years.

According to Catalina, there were three different rudder sizes for the 89 models. (makes no sense to me, but then again, I have no sense)
I wonder if that is true for other years?

I should have added, Catalina Direct asked me for my hull number as well as the model year in order to ensure a proper fit. Individuals who are considering ordering or fabricating their own balanced rudders should take this into account.
