Our Poliglow discussion took an interesting twist. In discussing fiberglass oxidation, it seems that some of us are wondering what colors actually lurk below the surface.

Are there any Association history buffs who have documented Catalina's color schemes for hull an topsides over the years? Inquiring minds want to know.

Thanks, J.B. I overlooked his post. That looks like a great resource.

I'm preparing to have a name printed for my boat and want to match the color of the blue stripe as close as possible. Does any one know the Pantone color code for the Catalina Blue that would match?

Rod, I have an '81 and it's boot stripe is Pantone Process Blue. If you have a friend in either the graphic arts or the promotional products business, ask to borrow their PMS book one weekend (no guys - it stands for "Pantone Matching System" )

I'm sticking to my story. After closer examination, the hull of my boat is white (no, not from oxidation, it's white all the way down to the fiberglass matte. Don't ask how I know that.).

Crash docking 101, John? Or a port/stbd miscall...?

Hey Derek,
Either of those would have made for a great story, thoroughly embellished, of course!

Unfortunately, it was just a blister removal/barrier coating job last winter. Hope I never have to do that again - miserable job.

I did have one embarassing docking experience. Learned a lot about currents in just a few seconds.

Just an FYI update ... after a little research my 1990 C25's boot srtipe seems to be Pantone Reflex Blue. Thanks for the reference to the PMS book, Derek.
