We were all intrigued by Chuck Shaw's appearance on the forum with the Catalina 25 #1 hull, and now I've stumbled across an ad in Latitudes and Attitudes for Catalina 38 hull #1 (recently sold). She's in unbelievable condition and worth having a look at while the link is still there:
Very nice! Her interior is different from any I have seen before, and she has some reinforcement that the production boats don't have, as I recall, but she still has those dreadful aluminum-framed windows, just like my C-25! Thanks for posting it, Rich.
The old 38's had a Sparkman and Steven's design with a few modifications by Frank Butler. Apparently they are very sea worthy, and have won their class in the Trans-Pac before. I have been watching the ads on Boats.com and drooling over them. Of course they aren't nearly as nice as our 25's

Catalina didn't acquire Morgan until about the mid-80s.

I remember seeing this hull when it was first launched. Beautiful then, and still beautiful! As I remember, Catalina bought the hull mold from Yankee Yachts. I used to crew aboard a Yankee 38 out of Ventura that was one of the most powerfull boats I have ever sailed.
The Catalina 38's use the same hull, but have Frank's deck layout (hence the aluminum framed windows...). I think the reason someone noted the interior was different was that at least when I saw her she had NO interior.... It was a LONG jump down inside from the companionway (and a longer climb out!)! Looks like she has a custom built interior that someone did a BEAUTIFUL job on!
Makes me feel ashamed how Confetti shows her age but this yacht does not!!!!
Chuck: You're looking at pictures, not the actual boat. The interior wood does look nice...
BTW, every time I see your hull number I think, "Wow, they made his, then they made 5,030 more, and then they made mine..." Try to imagine all of those boats in one place!

That WOULD be fun, eh? I have had the pleasure of sailing a lot of different types of boats thru the years, and I think the Catalina 25 is one of the best all round boats I have sailed. I guess thats the reason I stopped changing boats when I got Confetti?
