Great photos! Glad to hear that your halyard replacement went down with no problems. Is "Classical Cat" a tall rig? Her boom seems to be mounted "low", with a higher than standard angle on the main sheets, same as mine. Was "Indiscipline" built with the brown colored non-skid right in the gelcoat, or is that a colored coating of some kind? I have never seen a C-25 with non-skid any color other than white on the old ones and grey on the Mk. IV's.
Thanks for sharing the pics of "Spike's excellent adventure" She deserves a dinner out at the restaurant of her choice. That's a really nice boat of yours, and your marina looks top notch. I'll bet it is VERY expensive...hint, hint, let us know just how expensive and we'll quit drooling.

Today was foggy and very windy. Another day with the main reefed. I saw 6.5 knots at times (surfing a little). Afraid to take Doug and Mo too far out of sight of land in the fog on their first day in the Pacific.
Slipped one leg off the deck and banged up my shin real good!
Yes, Gary's Classical Cat is a Tall Rig, as is Valkyrie. When Ray gets here next week, he's bringing a TR also. That's 3 TRs (2 wings, 1 fin) and 2 SRs (both fins) in Fleet 7.
So far.
As far as I know my funky orange deck is stock. I like it. No glare, and it's still looking good (not faded) after 25 years.
We pay 251 per month, including all the electricity we can use , for a 25 foot slip, cement dock, no pool, great sailing, lots of places to cruise around and to. Yes, Classical Cat is a tall rig. I didn't sail today...once in awhile on a weekend I need to get some of the chores done Would have reefed hearing what Jim's report of wind was today. Had I gone down to SD today I would still be just starting on the trip home and no work done around the house. Had to tackle the weeds before they got really bad. But I'm not complaining...at least I don't have to shovel snow off the boat to go sailing. I feel for you all who have to face that chore and wish you the best sailing weather when your boats are in the water finally.
Gary - I slipped a little gift for you through your companionway doors. A print of that great photo looking down on your boat and spouse.
The seas were just showing infrequent white caps with 1 to 2 foot wind chop. Reefed, with the full 135 out I was sailing 6 knots or better and never rounding up or feeling too much weather helm.
Thanks, Jim. Next time out I bring out the 150 . I'll just reef the main as needed instead of downsizing the front end. That way I can go real fast off the wind. Great day yesterday, though. Our fleet is growing . Next time I see the C25 #4116 I will chase him down and see if they're interested in joining our Fleet #7. That's the boat I saw last night just before you hailed us on channel 72. I think that was the same one you and I saw last week, too. We need a special flag with a unique logo. Maybe something to do with "The Seventh Fleet" idea. Maybe Mike has an idea, eh Mike? There's also the boat the dockmaster lady was talking about. We could theoretically get to 7 boats soon. Next step is to think about some fleet-type activity, like a cruise from Mission Bay to San Diego bay sometime soon. Pick a weekend. Make some plans. See you at the dock. With 3 tall rigs and two of them being wings, we might be able to "scientifically" sort out this boat speed thing....well, maybe not
BTW, Jim. Did I see a characteristic wing mast tilt on the pic of Doug and Mo's boat? It may just be camera angle. Anyone else have their wing keel mast looking like it is raked forward instead of in column or back? Mine appears to have a forward rake compared to Jim's...."appears" nothing, it IS raked forward. But I also notice that my bow sits down farther than Jims' fin keel. Oh well, just another topic to discuss.....
You'll also notice that Valkyrie sits way above her lines (4 inches?)
I think it's fresh water lines versus salt, but I am surprised that the boat floats THAT much higher in salt.
I've been reading Wallace Ross "Sail Power". When one boat sails and adjusts nothing, and the other boat sails and makes every adjustment possible to gain speed, its called "Brushing". We can do some of that now and you guys can brush against me and get your wings fully tuned.
I agree, reefing the main and leaving the 135 up in strong winds seems to result in the best combination of speed, handling, and comfort (compared to rolling the genny). Notice my reefed SR stays right up with your unreefed TR in strong conditions. Reefing is easy and fast now that I'm prepared.
Next day we have really strong winds I'm going to reef the main and go to my 110% and see how the boat works. Also got to bring the 155 down for those light air days.
On my next main I'm going to have 2 reef points, loose foot, full battens, draft stripes, sail numbers, telltails, outhaul and cunningham, flattening reef, slides instead of boltrope....wish I had $1000 just laying around somewhere.

There was a thread a while back on the different color schemes on our boats...I recall white, tan (mine), light blue and "funky orange" (Jim's) were available for non-skid.
Jim:
Great pics! The conditions were similar up here (clear and sunny over land, thick grey haze and lots of wind on the ocean). Had no trouble maintaining 6 knots with reefed main and slightly rolled jib. It was our first sail out on the big boat since moving to the new marina -- it was fantastic that in the time it previously took just to get to the ocean from the slip, yesterday I was already 3.5 nm past the lighthouse. Great to hear about your local fleet growing! Hope your leg gets better soon.
...and 3 wings in the Seventh Fleet already. Hog Heaven, I'd say. Anxious to try the "brushing" thing you mentioned versus the other wings "in the Seventh Fleet". Should be a good education re: sail trim. I'd like to read that book of yours sometime. I have a smaller book on the subject: "A Manual of Sail Trim", by Stuart H. Walker, which I just pulled off the bookshelf after a long stay there. I may have to reread this now...my interest has been revived!!
I wonder if Doug and Mo had any problems pulling their trailer back to Arizona Sunday? How did they like the sailing? Their boat does sit high. Could it be that you have a ton of stuff in yours? Hahaha
Bar-B-Que on the docks? Sounds pretty good to me. Will have to arrange to bring a grilling device with appropriate utensils/food/libations. Hope to see everyone there, including us.
Hi Richard. Have been reading your posts for quite awhile, now. I once asked you if you knew of slips in your area and you said there were. I just decided I'd rather drive south to San Diego, one of our favorite places, to sail. Although I really liked all the sailing I did on our Prindle 16, and later, the C-22 in Long Beach and off Hurricane Gulch.
Maybe we need to do a cruise up your way or maybe a joint cruise by your group (?) to Dana Point on an extended weekend or something?
I also need to build the dink you have in your signature. Got any plans or know where they might be purchased? I bet you do.
Hope to meet you at least during the Seventh Fleets', plus all friends, cruise up the coast and to Catalina this summer. Should be a done deal.
Jim, Gary, Thanks again for all the help this weekend. We had a great time (even with all the work). We're looking forward to spending time with the 'fleet' and all of our new friends in San Diego. We are planning to be back over this weekend, will advise when the plans are firm.
No problem on the road back to AZ (other than getting a late start!). Took us right at 6 hours, dock to door.
It will be nice to be able to do some comparisons on rigging, and sailing, to try to find optimums.

Sorry, Gary -- bought it for a song from a really nice old guy at my old marina. I've inquired from him, as well as from this and other forums as to its make, but no luck so far.
