Yesterday was races 1 & 2 of our Spring Series. Our main competition was a J-27 and a Soling 27. Race 1 we had a fabulous "manoever all over the place" type of start against the Soling, both trying to get below the other...We corrected out over the Soling, but finished 2nd to the J-27 who did an horizon job on us! Race 2, nailed the start and corrected out over both the J and the Soling. So, one 2nd and one first - not a bad start to the 6 races. Derek

Yes we do Don. In fact, if we complete all 6 races we get 2 throwouts, taking out the worst finishes starting from the last race and working back to the 1st. Our tie break system is a mite complicated. They compare number of firsts, then number of seconds, then 3rds. etc. If still a tie then it's who got the better result in the last race. For 2 race events, it's who got the best result in the last race - which I believe is inherently unfair. I think it should be determined by total corrected time over the 2 races. Does anyone else have any thoughts on this? Derek
Derek, Please post the race schedule. We like to watch the races on Canyon Lake while we're out and look forward to cheering you on. Will have to hang out with Buzz and can hold your coolers to reduce excess weight Thanks, Sid

Steve - why should which race you win matter? If I take a 1st in race 1 and you a 2nd, and then we reverse it for race 2, why should you win? We both have the same number of points, we both have the same number of 1sts and 2nds. IMHO that's why it's an unfair tie break Derek
