I bought the small 15 gig iPod and it plugs into the CD changer jacks on my stereo. It has my entire CD collection on it and is only half full. SWEET!
iTunes is available for PC as well so PC people can get an iPod and manage it with iTunes just like a Mac. My wife has her playlist, my son his, etc.

The neatest thing about an iPod or similar instrument is that when you tire of the music on it you can just 'flush n fill' it. Illusion came with a burnt out FM/cassette. My solution was to run my iPod directly into a 30W X 2 mobile amplifier that I installed (installed=4 screws, 4 wires, done). I may install some replacement stereo radio component or other that'll accomodate the iPod, in time. I haven't missed the radio yet.

I have all my music collection on a set of MP3 discs on the boat, but I still want to have a radio to listen to NPR on the weekends. "Weekend Edition Saturday", "Car Talk", "Whad'ya Know?", and "A Prarie Home Companion". Watching the sun set from the cockpit of my boat after a perfect day of sailing, while listening the the news from Lkae Wobegon, is one of life's little pleasures.

Mega dittos on the NPR. Bob Edwards, Scott Simon, and the Tappet Brothers is probably more important to me than the music.

It just wouldn't be Saturday without Car Talk! I spent a delightful rainy Saturday on the boat last summer listening to every NPR program from 9am-1pm.

Of course, the Morning Edition & All Things Considered crew keep me up to date during the week.

As a teacher with educational pricing it was $269. When you order them from Apple they engrave the back for free. I am giving it to my wife on Sunday for her 55th and our 35 (June 1) It cost so much I need to combine events! I have spent the last couple days integrating it into the boat and the loading it the way I hope she will want it. My kids were less than impressed that all the Christmas presents were thinly veiled boat presents. I am hoping I don't get the same reaction from Martha Sunday. (I work very hard on the content of the engraved message!)

You're playing with fire, Frank. I once knew a guy who used your technique ... it worked well until he bought a chain saw for his wife for their anniversary ... she turned right around and bought HIM a new dining set!

Are you listening, Martha?

A couple of weeks ago on one of the home remodeling shows, I think it was Trading Places they put a who record collection on one of the walls. So there ya go.

I have electrical tape on my radio tuner dial set on NPR so nobody can mess with it.
