The warranty with my 1999 C250 said that it would be voided if I used anything other than bottom paint for the five year period. I would like to know what others think about the lack of an epoxy base for that first five years. Does the hull material hol

Alan,
We have a 94 vintage 250, we have only used bottom paint and the gel coat is in great shape. As far as I know the bottom gel coat is made of a vinylester resin (sp?) and is suposed to hold up much better than the traditional polyester resin. I'm

Are you saying that you didn't put a barrier coat on before the bottom paint? I'm not sure what was done with my '97 since we bought it used with bottom paint & didn't know enough to ask such questions . The reason I'm curious is that we're putting a 3r

Yes. I'm saying that the dealer did not put on a barrier coat, advising that it would invalidate the warranty to use anything other than bottom paint on the hull. As noted above, the rationale is that the vinylester material is supposed to neg
