Hi all
Here is a link to the photo showing how I mounted my stereo. The bolts are the port shrouds that extend into the cabin. I plan on building a teak cabinet around this, but for less than $3 this turned out nice (& no cutting!). The bolt extenders and nuts were bought at Sears Hardware. All the wires run on the underside of the deck. White box speakers are mounted on the Bulkhead in the salon and V Berth.

That was cropped a little tight, I do not recognize the location. I thought you said something about chainplates and shrouds.

I have a Jensen CD player it fits fine . The location is above the shelf on the port side settee. I have a traditional interior. The stereo bracket is between the cabin light and that piece of angle iron catalina has for support of the shrouds. That white "U" shaped bracket holds the stereo. I use (2) large thumb nuts to secure the stereo to this bracket. Most stereos give you an option of mounting them from the side. When I finish my spring cleaning I will post more photos showing the completed install.

Are you bolt couplers and nuts stainless or galvanized?

The extenders I believe are just zinc coated, they are off the shelf. The nuts are stainless, i have had no problems w/ corrosion. And if i did it is an easy replace.
