I am still fighting a significant rain water leak through the companion way hatch and I am tired of looking at the tarp over the boom. Has anyone replaced the factory companion way canvas cover with one that is waterproof? All of the snaps have failed on mine anyway. Also, has anyone replaced the clear overhead cover with an after market that eliminated the leaking? Thanks. Sincerely, tired of bailing out 2-3 inches of water in the bottom of my boat before every sail.

The canvas should be waterproof, if not, try spraying it with Scotch Guard.....To avoid puddeling, I put a plastic play-ball from Walmart under it, it keeps the center up. This, after you fix the snaps. There are kits you can buy from any of the on-line purveyors, or your local store. $20-ish.I even added the female snaps along the side to fit on the pop top snaps. I have no leaks with the above.

I am not aware of anyone having replaced the lexan hatch. However, the leaking comes from water running around the front edge and then back. Installing some kind of drip lip would probably help. Either that or routing a groove on the underside of the hatch, about 1/8th of an inch in from the edge, and thus creating a drip lip.

I had the same problem with standing water on my canvas which with wave action and boats going by cause it to move and roll over the edge into the boat. I took Oscar's suggestion, but use a blow up 12" beach ball, which I had for the kids in the pool, put it under the cover after I wash it and then coated it with sailkote. That stuff works for not only slip in the mast and boom tracks, but a great water repellent on canvas.
