I have seen some boat trailers that use a hull support system consisting of a set of 6 to 8 16" x 16" (approx) heavy wooden pads covered with carpet, attached to the end of a length of threaded rod stuck down into a piece of pipe, sticking up from the trailer frame at a more-or-less right angle to the hull surface. The threaded rod has a large nut with a pair of big handles sticking out of it that rests on the end of the pipe. You turn the handles (and nut) to adjust the pad up or down. Does anyone know what these devices are called, and where I might find a web page of a trailer parts supplier that describes them and has prices? I'd like to see what they cost and have not been able to locate info on the Web because I don't know what name to use as a search term. I am thinking of adding a pair of these to my trailer all the way at the rear-most crossmember to support tho stern of the boat, which overhangs the rear rollers by about 6'.

I believe they're called 'jack stands'. Most marinas have them, though they may not sell them. Though fairly common, I've never seen them retailed at West Marine, etc.
