Last winter it was time to rebuild the 1980 Johnson 9.9 hanging off of School's Out. The lower end was leaking and it was just basically tired. The parts were readily available locally. When I got into it I found that the control arm was shot. So I decide

Last Saturday, I sold my old sailboat with a 1980 Johnson 9.9 and that outboard probably ran as smooth as the day it was made. In the warm weather months it always started on the first pull and never gave me an ounce of worry. Your modifications sound pre

I was very careful about mounting locations for your mentioned reasons. The shifter is a combo throttle and gear shift mounted about 18 inches rear of the cabin hatch on the port side. I mounted it about 12 inches above the floor of the cockpit the short
