You have covered alot of topics here. I will make just one suggestion on the battery situation. Why not just add another battery to cover your power needs. One battery doesn't sound like enough. That 30 watt solar panel is going to set you back a couple

Those are a lot of questions. It isn't easy to answer them without a lot of words, in which you might get lost easily.
You don't need the ammeter, but if you want one there are other ways to meter the current than running your heavy wire through it. I do

Thanks for your tips, fellows. However, a larger battery bank won't solve the problem. The five-watt solar panel was able to push into the battery the ampere-hours I was consuming before I installed the Tiller Pilot. No matter how large the battery bank,
