One launch day we set out for a brief sail. We attached the main and jib of course, pointed into the wind, raised both sails, slackened the topping lift, adjusted downhaul and outhaul tensions, wrapped what would be the leeward jib sheet around the winch and fell off . . . went to grab the main sheet and there was nothing there ! Asked the admiral why she hadn't attached the main sheet rigging and the conversation when downhill quickly from there . . .
Curtain fricassee, what else? I have both stoves in the greenhouse for foul weather outdoor cooking. I seldom cook-out on the boat any more. A pound of coldcuts and a loaf of 12 grain whole wheat bread and some fluid to wash it down works until I can get to a good restaurant. I left Weeks and moved to Dockside 500 much better accommodations and just a little higher $$. I also put my name on the list for Corey Creek. I had a slip there and at Sandspit but got tired of the parking crouds. Think I'll give it another try. I understand that you'll be at Sandspit this year. How long was your wait for the slip?
Sorry to hear about the ribs, try not to laugh. I never broke any bones ( that I can remember) but did tear the muscles between the ribs and it was a thing to deal with. Go slow with the splash and have a productive season. If the wind moderates I'll try to raise the 155 Genny today, it's times like these that I wish it were a hanked on sail.
Uncovered yesterday, and spent the afternoon bailing very clean water that must have come during rains. One of my projects once wet will be to replace the gaskets for the windows. Probably won't paint the bottom this year, but will have to next year, or maybe in the fall. Brought the %^()*% Honda home and will take the new Nissan over the next time I go the boat. have to get a battery switch this week and the cabling to go to the battery. Expect to launch next w/e.
Lordy,Lordy we've been hit with a plague of near Biblical proportions. Mosquito like insects about 1/2 inch long- no stinger- but by the gazillions. Have you seen anything like it up your way?
Several years ago, while surf casting, we had a similar happening but with house flies. The beach buggies and people were covered with black flies. Fortunately they were gone the next day and never reappeared. Today's insects have been here three days so far and seem quite content to make the area a permanent habitat.
