Last weekend we moved the Free Spirit 78 SK/SR about 60 miles from one Ohio lake to another. All in all the moving/trailer experiece went well. (Thanks to all for prior help on trailer purchase) No problems and we learned alot. First time at a trailer launch, for this boat, and again all went well, except that part where I got wet. Younger brother motored her to our slip while other brother and I moved trailer to summer resting place and carried AFrame to dock. Using the standing AFrame we built from plans on this site, the mast went up under control and very little effort. However something did happen and we're not sure if it was our construction or part of the design. While the mast was going up the AFrame twisted at the top and put an extra load on the pulley. Has anyone run into that before and if so is it correctable. We two lines fore and aft from about 6 feet up the 8 foot legs on both sides. This kept the rig from moving but the twist was a little worrysome. Any suggestions.

From Attwood to Seneca. Been at Attwood for 8 years, it's a great lake and the marina if fantastic. Seneca is twice the size so we thought we'd try there for awhile.
That's on our list for next year or the year after. We are thinking about the western end around the islands. But for now we are looking foreward to a good summer.

When you do, look into Dock of the Bay Marina (and yacht club). In Sandusky. 2.5 hrs to Kelley's; about 4 hours to put in bay... The Marina is very reasonable at about $1500 a season, water, electric and dock box included. The yacht club is I-lya, so you'll have reciprocity all around the lake.. We were there for a couple of seasons. The facilities are great as are the people.
("two lines fore and aft from about 6 feet up the 8 foot legs on both sides." ) I have used my rough A frame 3 times up and down in the last 9 months since I bought the boat. I have not had any twisting. I hook a caribiner inside, or below the angle of the upper A. The jib halyard hooks to the caribiner from the aft and my long mainsheet rig hooks to the fore end. I lead the mainsheet thru a block at the bow. One line only balances it self, and centers by pulling the forces toward the center of the A frame. I think the 2 lines adds a degree of difficulty.
