Over the years my OE sails on the 1986 C25 have become worn, dirty and in need of some professional attention. I sent them to SailCare, thinking that since I don't race and the boat is only used four months a year that I could get a few more years out of them. The PO had installed the furler so that the sail was rolled up backward preserving the sacrificial leach cover. It is in perfect condition. But SailCare tells me that the sail is weakened and needs repair. I feel a little foolish for not noticing this improper installation but take some comfort from the lofts that I have contacted telling me that it is not uncommon. The SailCare quote is $700 for the Main and 150 Genoa. That led me to contact Catalina yachts, Catalina Direct and Air Force for quotes for new sails. They are all in the same range (within $100 of $1700) with Air Force the lowest. Any comments or advice?
