I have an 82 swinger and I would like to know how to flush out the water tank. My boat has a water fill inlet on the deck but does not have an over flow exit point to flush the system. Right now the tank only has a hose that leads to the galley sink so there is no way to flush out the water tank. Is this normal? Wouldn't it be better to have a valve under the sink that could be turned to direct the water out of the boat through the hull?
When my boat is on the hard, I flush the tank by inserting a full garden hose through the access cap on the the tank itself, then I throw the rest of the hose overboard. The water inside the garden hose starts the syphoning process and will empty the tank. If you really want to give the tank a good flush, put another hose in the deck inlet and fill the tank at the same rate as the syphon hose is outputting.
I recently removed the tank to clean it. What prompted this was the terrible growth in the hoses. Admiral said she wanted clean water to use for washing. The really tough part was getting the outlet past the small bulkhead in the locker. The Admiral's small hands did the trick. Once the tank was out, I enlarged the hole. This facilitated the replacement of the tank with the outlet hoses attached. Hopefully, we will use the water enough to keep the hoses clean looking. I am not anxious to do this again. But I saw on other way to get the hises off and replaced. Good Luck.
