I recently purchased my first boat. A 1985 C-25 #4801.
I'm having problems with my furling spool (drum???), and would like to know what make of furler came on my boat. Also if replacement parts are available. I believe the furler is original to the boat. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Joe

Welcome to the fleet, Joe!

Can you describe your current furler?

Pictures will help as will any brand names... also what kind of trouble are you having?

There are lots of furlers that it could be so we need to narrow it down a bit more in order to help....

It is a cdi 'reefer', I believe. Open spool on bottom. Wish I could be more helpful, but only have limited information.

Thanks,

Joe

Thanks for the link. I went to cdi's site only to find out that my unit is obsolete. fortunately, I can upgrade to a newer style drum for a 'reasonable'(in boat terms) amount of money. As far as the original problem, the drum hangs up on the housing, making furling extremely difficult. I'll fiddle with it some more today, and post my results.

Joe: I had the same furler problems and for a reasonable price I upgraded the drum to the later style and also added the roller bearing for the furler. The system work works to much better and I am very happy with it now. If you need any photos or further details please feel free to write.

Bruce,
I assume that you used the cdi 'flexible furler' drum assembly. How tough of a job? One person or two? If you have pics, would you please send to me at mtb63061@aol.com? Thanks in advance.
