I have a tall rig 89 C25

Looking to buy a furler system
1. I assume the CDI Flexible Furler #6 is the correct one for the tall rig. (headstay length 40'-5")

2. Sure would like some feed back on the unit.

3. I sail on a inland lake light winds, so thinking about utilizing my 150?

4. Does anyone know the luff length of a "tall" 150?

I think I got more problems
I had my dealer install a CDI #4 furler and add luff tape to my 150% geona.

When I went up to the lake Sunday to raise my new genoa, I found out that the length of the CDI system's luff (which the dealer installed the week before) was 28'-01/2" but the luff on my sail was 31'-3" oops.

So, now I'm reviewing the problem with the dealer and have a useless sail. Any takers?

My question is; would a stock 150% ever work, or "is" I screwed? I do not see how you can achieve the required 31'+ length. From the dock it looks like their is only 2'-6" +/- remaining at the top of the forestay and by the time you allow for the hardware at the foot of the system I think you will run out of room.

Any ideals would receive alot of thanks

We have had the CDI furler for 2+ years with no complaints. The six sounds like the right size. There is an additional ball bearing kit that I recomend. It makes the furling much easier. Look on the tech tips for the article so the furler does not eat your front stay. I cut the foil a little longer and had a rigger add a piece on to the stay.
Works great and has not needed any work since installed.

I have a tall rig 1988 and I got a FF4 unit with the bearing kit 2 years ago . Not sure the difference in the FF4 and FF6. I have to agree that the bearing kit is worth the money. At the time the Sail Warehouse had the best deal (831-646-5346).

As far as the sail I spilt the difference between my 110 and 150 and got a 130.

I installed a cdi-ff4 last year and did the work myself. My boat is a standard rig, and my calculations look like I cut the cdi luff extrusion at 28'3 1/2". So if that is right, it appears that your operator cut the extrusion for a standard rig, not for a tall rig.

The ff4 has a maximum headstaylength of 34' 5". Not sure how that fits with the tall rig, but my gut seems to think the forestay length is only a couple of feet more than the std rig. If so the cdi-ff4 will work for the tall rig.
