I spent considerable time reading the forum on this topic and fretted over in-hull vs thru-hull, thinking about PVC pipe and mineral oil filling etc.
I just purchased a "Predident Depth Finder by Uniden LTD 260HP Adjustable In-Hull" ($94.00)
It comes with a plastic recepticle that is epoxied to the hull and excepts the included tranducer. The transducer is a twist-n-lock arrangement that allows for removal of the transducer. The recepticle is then filled with mineral oil. Ithought was a pretty neat package.
It seems simple, we'll see!

I have an in-hull depth finder as well. Problem is, I cannot find anywhere to mount it that gives me a reading. I have read and re-read the postings trying to find a spot. I ahve spent hours on the boat rying to get a reading, still no luck. If you find a spot, please let me know. I have spent hours trying to get it to work. Am hauling out next month for the annual bottom job and will install a thru-hull then if no success. Tim
