My Bidata speed indicator isn't working so I'm changing to using a GPS unit and relocating the depth sounder. As part of this I want to change the instrument readout location from the left to the right of the companionway entrance. I'm looking for ins

Try this. Go to the new West Marine catalog (or catalog of choice) page 546 and check out the Beckson Screw-in Deck plates. You can even get them with clear centers, like having a little opening port over the sink. Cost you $14 and no messing with gelco

We did something similar on the boat I race on. After buying a new KVH system we removed the old compass, windspeed indicator and speedo and replaced them with KVH digital displays. The one problem, the square peg didn't fit the round hole.

Did this a couple years ago. I removed the old speedo indicator from the hole, used a hack-saw to cut the "back" off the indicator and removed all the "guts" and wires. I then re-installed the "window" back into the large hole. I used a router to make
