My “adventure” with gel coat crazing and other issues with my new boat have finally been concluded. On Monday the boat went back to the factory in Woodland Hills for repairs and remedy to the situation. The boat returned yesterday and was repaired and in new condition, thanks to the Catalina Factory and Frank Butler.

It took a quite a while and many discussions with Catalina and Mr. Butler. I must say that once Mr. Butler was involved in the process we were able to work toward and achieve a solution to all the issues involving my boat.

It was a frustrating process at times for everyone, but Catalina and Frank Butler stood behind their product, made things right, and was a gentleman during the entire process. He even called this morning to make sure the boat was back safely, and that I was satisfied with the work that was done at the factory. I also got the impression that he personally oversaw things regarding the repairs based on our conversation.

Also, I would say thanks to the folks at Ocean Equipment who were also involved in the process and took care of the electronics and provided information and suggestions to me that had not been communicated when the boat was delivered.

It was a learning process for me, wouldn’t want to have to do it again, but looking forward to enjoying my boat in the future and feeling confident that the Catalina Factory cares about their product, their customers, and Frank Butler will do all he can to resolve any issues that are brought to his attention.

Thanks to the folks out there who provided moral support and suggestions throughout the process.

When I recieved delivery of Silver Girl in 1983, the rub rail had been badly damaged, being almost ripped off the bow in shipping and the dealer, Seaford Marine (no longer a Catalina Dealer)didn't show much interest in resolving the problem. After a lot of stalling and getting nowhere with the dealer I called Catalina Yachts and they put me through directly to Frank Butler who personally contacted the dealer and saw to it that the right thing was done, and personally kept in touch with me during the process. The parts were overnighted from Catalina and the work was completed in a few days. I was impressed.
