I finally received the new keel winch last night. I installed it today but I don't like the way the instructions say to tie off the end of the winch cable to the drum.
It says to feed the cable end out from inside the drum,go around the center pin then go underneath itself and then clamp the cable to the side of the drum. By going under itself it causes the cable to rub against the bracket that holds the drum.
It is my opinion that this will cause damage to the side of the bracket & wear on the cable. Can someone please tell me if I am doing this correctly.
One more question: Is it necessary to use the wooden wedge under the new winch?
