Tsunami (Evelyn 32-2 I race on) was about 100 yards on the other side of this bridge at the Cleveland Yachting Club.

Unfortunately The Wasp, kept about 2 miles down the lakeshore at Edgewater Yacht Club, survived without a scratch....

You can read the archives at the plain Dealer www.cleveland.com http://www.cleveland.com/news/plaindealer/index.ssf?/base/news/1085391324134972.xml but the short and quick is that the storms created some huge river currents, broke boats and docks (yes, some boats were still attached to the dock)free. Some made it out to the lake, others hit the bridge, or other boats breaking them free causing a domino effect.

take a gander: --- oh one last thing, yes all the boats in the picture are stinkboats, but there were plenty of sticks that got hit too.

Damaged boats and docks rest against a railroad bridge on the Rocky River downstream from the Cleveland Metroparks' Emerald Necklace Marina. U.S. Coast Guard officials said more than 100 boats broke free of their moorings early Saturday aftermore rains caused the already swollen river to surge. And more rain could hit today

Duane,

"Unfortunately The Wasp, kept about 2 miles down the lakeshore at Edgewater Yacht Club, survived without a scratch.."

"Unfortunately"??? What am I missing?

What a bummer for the boats involved. Ugly

Ouch!

We had a big one on Pelican lake here in Minnesota a week ago. The stright line winds coming from the southeast completely broke up the docks that had just recently been put in. Fortunately, not a single boat was in the water yet. Just put in this last weekend and am hoping that the experience is not repeated.
