My anchor light isn't working. Any idea what model/size lightbulb I need? I'm having a furler installed and thought I'd take care of this all in one shot.
Since we are under 40' all we need is 2nm visibility on the anchor light. A 10 watt bulb will give you that. The west marine number for the bulb is 4810636 (Dim Festoon, T11x44, 12V/10W 840808 Only $4.99 USD)
You may want to check the deck connector also. Yesterday my deck light didn't work and I found the screws loose under the wire cap. The bulb was OK. Sailing on the Northwest corner of Lake Erie Sat. if anyone is out there.
The light bulb didn't do it. The running light halfway up the mast works, so some of the cabling is fine. I also have an intermittant depth finder- stays on for a few minutes, then shuts off by itself. The knot meter doesn't work at all. Any suggestions on what to do next?
I agree with Oscar. And since it seems to be an systemic, start at the electrical panel and work your way toward the appliances that are showing problems.
I have a slip at the Salt Ponds Marina in Hampton. Its a resort marina with pool, laundry, restaurant AND fish cleaning stations all right there. Pretty nice stopover for cruisers.

Just another thought (and easy to check and fix) -- what is the condition of your battery(s)? Low voltage could possibly cause those problems.
I had the same problem with my knot meter. It was a brand new boat in ocean (salt) water for approximately one month. My dealer told me that the sensor needed to be cleaned (this appears to be an ongoing maintenance item for a boat in salt water!)- he showed me how, and voila! The knot meter started to work again. Access the following "HOW TO" URL that illustrates the activity. It is not for a Catalina, but the information looks accurate to me. You of course will need to find your knot meter - mine was under the rear berth in the thru hull, just behind the companionway. Hope this works! http://www.pearson35.com/projects/mikhayaprojects/speed_wheel.htm
