Hey, Jim and all you Fleet 7 cooool people: How about doing the sail to SD Bay that Jim suggested on Saturday?
I will probably try to get down Thursday AND Friday and stay over Friday to sail on Saturday. Start early to get around Pt Loma early enough to get lunch at that great Fish food place Jim and Susan and I went to several weeks ago.
Anyone interested? We need to keep the Seventh Fleet active. How about Mike going along with me or Jim or sailing his own boat???

Sounds good. I will stay over Friday night to sail early Sat. for SD Bay. But I want to go to the Coronado Ferry Landing, have lunch, and sail back. Perhaps we can drive by Point Loma Seafoods on the way home.
Keep in mind that Sunday June 6 is the San Diego Marathon. Highways 163 and 805 will be closed. The race is going right by Marina Village and Mission Bay Drive will be closed.
Sunday, I will be home working on the Dinghy project.
Last night I put the boat on course for Catalina. Seas were 3 feet and mixed swell. Winds were SW about 10 - 12. Boat speed was 5.5 knots directly on course for the island. Avalon was only 65 miles. Dana Point was 55 (Oceanside 25). I sailed farther than usual, 6 miles out. Nearly 1/10 of the way! Back in the slip by 8:30 PM and it was still light. I love summer!
If we have such nice southwest winds August 2 why not just forget Oceanside and Dana and sail direct?
Jim, it is 2:10 Thursday. I am going to go down and go sailing. See you there. Will talk about the straight run to 2 Harbors. Shutting down and leaving for San Diego....now
Sorry guys, I'm committed until around noon on Saturday. Then I was hoping to get the boom and main back on the mast. If I can accomplish that I can actually go sailing Peohes in Coronado costs way more than Pt. Loma Seafood. Keep me posted because I'm going to have to eat lunch somewhere.
Gary, call San Diego Harbormaster 619-686-6227 for your anchorage permit for tonight La Playa Cove (A1 anchorage). You need to give them you boat name and CF number. That's all there is to it.
It's right by the harbor police dock, near Southwestern Yacht Club. You can call them on the VHF tonight, also.
Met a teacher from Vista who has a Hunter 35 berthed in Oceanside. Sailed down yesterday and anchored in Mariners' Cove. I had anchored there myself (to practice) and to fix the rudder which had lost a lock nut on the lower pintal and was realllllly loose. I pulled anchor and had just put up the main when this guy on a kayak introduced himself. His wife also teaches and will be joining him Friday night (tonight). They will stay until Sunday. Nice guy and we should sail over and chat awhile this evening.
Agreed, but I am going to be anxious to set sail on our adventure to La Playa cove. I have enough food, beer, snacks, and things for 2. Still have to fix the anchor light - I can do that in the cove or while waiting for you to arrive.
