I'm considering installing a Shurflo Electric Faucet & Pump combination in the galley. Has anyone installed one on their boat? Is it a good, reliable system? Thanks, Gary
I installed a single separate 12V pressure water pump, strainer, pressure accumulator, and generic hardware store faucets at the galley and head sinks. I also added a second water tank (bladder) for long trips. I've been using this system for over a year, and it's working fine.
The separate pump also leaves the option of adding other pressure water dispensers. I'm considering a hose with trigger spray knozzle for showering/fish-cleaning/swimmer rinsing/etc. The nozzle might be off a kitchen sink dish rinse hose with a 10' or so 3/8" reinforced hose coiled in a cockpit locker along with a 3/8" or 1/2" ball-valve shutoff there.
About 5 years ago I installed the basic model from Jabsco. It still works fine and as long as I don't run it dry it will probably continue to do so. I put in a "T" from the tank so that I could keep the original non-electric Flipper available. I used to use the electric faucet a lot more, cleaning babies cups, et al, but it tends to drain the original fresh water tank a lot quicker.
