I no longer use the 4.5 Gal portable tank. We went to Walmart and bought a fold up three gallon tank. Our water needs are not as great as other sailors. We drink bottled water when on the boat and generally don't have any dishes to wash..."Bear" C250 S/N 089.
The water tank in the galley locker was discontinued with the '97 model. You might consider adding a tank in the V berth. I think the standard tank now is a 12 gallon. Many of us who have done a conversion have added two 9 gal Todd tanks. While it really depends on how much fresh water your wanting, consider adding the tank to the V berth locker.
While this will entail venting and filling in some way, it may be worth while. Splicing into the water line itself is a very minor issue as the line runs around the V berth on its way to the head anyway.
Not only will moving the tank offer more water capacity, but it will free up the galley area for pots n pans, etc.
If wanting to stay with the tank in the galley, Catalina may still offer replacements... if you go that route...let us know so that we can tell others if the tank is available.
