Raced in Centerboard Yacht Club's home regatta Saturday - its the first race for the Gulf of Maine Ocean Racing Association (GMORA) this season. Placed second in cruising class. (Racing class was inhabited by FAST boats. The slowest was a J105 with a 90 racing. The fastest was a Far 39 with a 15 rating).

Hung boat for boat with the Catalina 310 that finished third. Smoked him by 12 minutes on a 6 mile course in light air. He finished 52 seconds ahead of me on a 4 mile windward leward course in ~18 knots later in the day - and owed us about 4 more minutes.

We were stunned to see a C310 out point us and equally stunned to out point a Pearson 30 that dominates cruising class in these parts.

Our runs were painfully slow. Took about 100 more pounds of crap off the boat Sunday. Lazerette is absolutely empty but for an extension cord and radar reflector. Quartberth has only a pair of fenders and a boat hook. Got a half inch of bottom paint showing aft for our troubles. Ought to help.

This is addictive!

Sounds like you got the bug bad! I've just gotten the itch myself. I hope to be as successful as you've already become.

Way to go, Justin! Give those longer boats heck!
"Our runs were painfully slow"
If you find out how to make this part faster you will eat everyone's lunch! Try tuning your rig looser - on "This Side Up" the Loos guage readings (on the front of the guage) are aft lowers - 10, forward lowers - 20 and the uppers - 30. (Yes, I know the leeward shrouds look like wet spaghetti going to weather, but they are not holding anything up at that point!) But downwind it is FAST!

Get rid of them!
